Agrology, a Public Benefit Corporation, is thrilled to announce that two esteemed soil health experts, Dr. Jessica Chiartas and Chuck Schembre, have joined the company as scientific advisors. Their deep soil health knowledge and experience will be instrumental in guiding Agrology customers to interpret and utilize soil data and more intimately understand the impacts of regenerative agriculture practices. In addition, the advisors will help Agrology advance their Arbiter product, develop new soil health metrics to help inform grower decision-making, and ensure that Agrology data meets the highest scientific standards.

“The role of soil health in sustaining and enhancing agricultural productivity has never been more critical,” said Adam Koeppel, Co-Founder and CEO of Agrology. “Under the guidance of Dr. Chiartas and Mr. Schembre, Agrology is poised to further advance our data capabilities and our ability to deliver high-level expertise and consulting to our customers.”

Dr. Jessica Chiartas, a distinguished soil scientist with a PhD in Soils and Biogeochemistry from U.C. Davis, brings extensive experience in researching the long-term impacts of agricultural management on soil carbon, soil health, and ecosystem services. As the President and Lead Scientist at RegenScore, she has collaborated with organizations such as Ben & Jerry’s and Simple Mills to develop monitoring programs that track the environmental, agronomic, and economic impacts of regenerative practices. Dr. Chiartas will play a pivotal role in helping Agrology transform complex data into actionable insights.

“Agrology is a clear innovator in this space and I am excited to apply my knowledge and experience to help further their mission,” said Dr. Jessica Chiartas. “We share a dedication to improving the health of our soils and scaling regenerative agriculture and together we can make a real impact.”

Chuck Schembre, a regenerative specialty crop consultant with Understanding Ag and a Certified Professional Soil Scientist, specializes in orchards, vineyards, and diversified vegetable cropping systems, with a focus on California and the Western regions. With 20 years of experience in agriculture and natural resource management, Chuck has managed diversified farms, orchards, and vineyards, and served as a soil health educator and consultant to hundreds of farmers. His expertise in soil health analysis, regenerative crop fertility, and ecosystem restoration will be crucial as Agrology enhances its product offerings to include comprehensive soil health metrics derived from its Arbiter platform.

“Soil health is key to the vitality of any crop and measuring the various inputs that make up a healthy soil is the key to lasting changes,” said Chuck Schembre. “I am excited to work with the Agrology team to advance their capabilities and impact a generation of growers looking to apply data to solve real-world, on-farm issues.”
