ICR, a leading strategic communications and advisory firm, today announced the appointment of Chuck Dohrenwend as a Managing Director to assume a newly-established role focused on enhancing and expanding the firm’s support for private equity investment firms and their portfolio companies.
Dohrenwend will work within ICR’s existing financial services and private equity group to support the reputation management goals of financial sponsors. He will also collaborate with the firm’s capital markets advisory group and industry sector-focused strategic communications teams to help sponsor-backed companies with their corporate communications and liquidity-driven advisory needs.
“Now is the perfect time to further invest in our team that helps private equity firms and their portfolio companies position themselves for success,” said Michael Fox, Chief Client Officer, ICR. “The challenging and highly competitive exit environment over the past several years highlights the invaluable role strategic communications plays in helping companies differentiate themselves and convey their value proposition to potential acquirers and public market investors. We welcome Chuck to our team and look forward to his leadership as we expand our network and enhance the value we provide across the private equity ecosystem.”
Dohrenwend added: “I am excited to join the talented team at ICR and build upon its track record of success in providing strategic communications and advisory services to the sponsor community. The firm’s deep understanding of the capital markets and its industry sector-focused approach are not only genuine points of differentiation, they are assets ideally suited to not only serve the needs of private equity firms seeking to distinguish themselves, but also their portfolio companies needing tailored solutions to communicate their story, drive growth, and ultimately optimize liquidity events.”
Dohrenwend joins ICR after most recently spending more than 20 years at H/Advisors Abernathy where he was a member of the firm’s leadership team and led the firm’s relationships with several private equity firms and their portfolio companies. Earlier in his career, Chuck spent more than eight years in a variety of public relations roles at Edelman and Broadgate Consultants, and he is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross.
