HeyTutor, one of the largest in-person tutoring companies in the United States, announces its selection as an approved provider of in-person, high-impact tutoring services by the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Advisors (MAISA) for school districts pursuing grant funding through the “MI Kids Back on Track” program.
HeyTutor, founded in 2014, currently serves thousands of students in states including Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Maine, Missouri, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.

The Education Trust Midwest’s State of Michigan Education Department report echoed the governor’s pleas to help low-income students who suffered academic setbacks during the pandemic. Recent data showed that several students lost the equivalent of a year’s worth of math and reading lessons, while some students lost about a fifth of a school year, according to the Michigan-based education nonprofit.
“We believe our comprehensive approach will help identify the root causes of learning loss and address the inherent foundational gaps with standards-aligned lesson sequences to match schools’ pacing and curriculum guidelines and uses evidence-based approaches to help improve learning outcomes,” remarked Sheffield.
Eligible districts who use state grant funds administered by MAISA will have access to HeyTutor’s network of highly trained and vetted local tutors and paraprofessionals, curriculum resources and proprietary robust online dashboard including student usage, attendance, and academic progress over the course of the program. Tutors will be collaborating closely with educators, curriculum designers, and district leadership throughout the district, aligning skills with state-mandated metrics, as well as providing support for the increased reporting required to monitor the progress of high-risk, marginalized students. Once the program direction and delivery approach are outlined, the company’s highly trained tutors become embedded in the educational ecosystem and focus on enhancing student learning experiences through personalized assistance that complements classroom instruction.
